Canine cough “bordatella” is a upper respiratory infection that is usually mild and similar to a cold in humans. Your dog may get it if exposed to another dog or areas they may have been.
People tend to associate canine cough with dogs that have been boarded or kenneled. This is not true. They can be exposed anywhere they encounter other dogs. This includes the veterinarians office, daycare, dog parks or even from your neighbors dog.
Bordatella infections are very similar to a chest cold in humans and can be bacterial or viral. Incubation is generally three to ten days which means this is when potential symptoms can arise as well. Most cases are mild.
Vaccinating your dog every six months with the Bordatella vaccine will reduce the risk and help reduce severity of symptoms. Since there are different strains the vaccine is only directed at the most common. A strong immune system is the best defense. Young and elderly dogs with weakened immune systems can be more susceptible. Please consult your veterinarian for more information.

In addition, large circulating fans constantly move and exchange the air for an enriched and healthy environment.
